"Preferred patients" are patients who have recieved an annual physical exam and routine vaccinations in the past 12 months and recieve guaranteed emergency care, reduced emergency farm call fees, and priority scheduling.
Vaccines
Core vaccines: Rabies, Eastern and Western Encephalitis, West Nile Virus, Tetanus, Botulism
Risk-based vaccines: Potomac Horse Fever, Influenza, Rhinopneumonitis, Strangles
Annual Physical Exam
Evaluation of vitals, heart, lungs, airway, skin, limbs, and eyes.
Horses are observed in motion to evaluate soundness and neurologic status.
Oral Exam and Dental Correction
Proper oral care is integral to maintaining heath. Improper chewing or oral pain can lead to colic, choke, inappetence and poor performance.
Full oral examination with a speculum. Oral exam is performed under minimal sedation.
Dental correction or "float" performed with power equiptment for a more precise, faster and superior procedure.
